Mindfulness is defined as “the awareness that emerges through paying attention on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally to the unfolding of experience moment by moment” (Kabat-Zinn, 2003).
This 8 week course teaches the principles, underlying mechanisms and practical application of mindfulness into daily life.
Research indicates that mindfulness can be highly beneficial to physical, emotional and psychological well being, with some of the key benefits including;
- Emotional and psychological well being
- Reduction in anxiety
- Improved capacity to manage difficult situations
- Lowering of blood pressure
- Better health and vitality
- Improved quality of and balance in life
This training was developed to systematically increase mindfulness not only through practising mindfulness techniques but also by covering the underlying principles and mechanisms. By addressing the most important elements of mindfulness, one by one, this training breaks down mindfulness in a comprehensive way, making it accessible to everyone. The first seven sessions address a different building block of mindfulness, and these are then integrated in the eighth and final session.
Joining a course requires you to be available for an 8 week period in order to cover all of the key aspects of mindfulness and to make it easier to apply mindfulness in a wide range of contexts.
